April 2018 Newsletter

Prayer Corner:

We pray with a heart of thankfulness as our Sharathon has come to a close! The Lord has blessed us in so many ways beyond our own comprehension. We ask that you would pray that the Lord would continue to provide for this ministry even though Sharathon is over. We also ask that you lift up your prayers with hearts of praise as we rejoice in all the Lord has given us!

WE TOLD OF HIM

by Bill Powell

Well, Sharathon 2018 “To Tell of Him” is now in the rearview mirror. We just finished our rap- up meeting and made a feeble attempt to thank everyone who gave of his or her time, talent, and treasure. I say feeble attempt because the love, generosity, and Christian fellowship that was displayed over the past week leaves us almost speechless and unable to adequately express our gratitude. To each and every one who prayed for us, I say thank you. To everyone who gave money, thank you, and to all who participated by giving of your labor, I also say thank you . For all the flubs, mistakes, oversites, and enduring our humanity, we say forgive us. We missed a lot of great picture opportunities.

I would like to do something here I don’t do enough of, and that is thank and highlight our staff. We currently have 7 transmitter sites, internet TV, a great web site, and streaming on the internet and app. Oh, and we have state-of-the-art studios that are the central hub that ties all this together. It takes 17 computers to run this place and over 10 complicated computer programs. Did I mention we have 4 full time employees? I would put you to sleep if I shared more detail.

The most important attribute of those that work here is that they are born-again devoted Christians. They see this as God’s work, their jobs as a calling, and they place a high importance on studying the scriptures and serving the Lord. Without those qualities, the Cornerstone would be just another radio station. Denisha manages the highly automated and sophisticated office. She has a wealth of experience as well as a master’s degree. She does the bill paying, purchasing, coordinating the volunteers, and a myriad of things- the list too long to detail.

Everyone exercises a high proficiency with computers. Christina does all of our graphics, including our newsletter. She is one of the main voices of The Cornerstone. Christina manages our social media and created our current web site, www.wjlu.org. Check it out; you will be amazed. She is a wonderful singer and adds a great deal of creativity to this ministry. Chris has been here for over 14 years and has played an integral role in the development of all the additions and improvements during that time. Chris is the program director, the main voice of The Cornerstone, and the technical guru that keeps this all on-task and on time. Chris is a pastor and will be graduating next month with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry.

I have totally understated the talents and efforts by these folks. Everyone wears many hats, and we are able to minister throughout the year in thousands of different ways. Also, I would like to briefly give kudos to Lou Mueller, our contract engineer, who has over 50 years’ experience maintaining and fixing radio equipment. Without Lou we would be basically dead in the water. Although our community as a whole is unaware of the work the Lord is doing through these people and those that support The Cornerstone, I feel confident there are many rewards being stored up in Heaven. The Cornerstone is a shining light in our community, and much of it is a result of the efforts of the Cornerstone staff. They have earned my love and respect.

Php 1:27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.

Mat 10:10 …Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
