We Need To Infiltrate by Bill Powell

I think we can all agree the world has pretty much lost its mind. I won’t elaborate except to say most people with a pulse would agree. The question is how did this happen and what should we do about it? The sad thing is it has happened from within our borders. The devil and his demons have infiltrated our society by several means. I could talk about the ACLU, Planned parenthood, PETA, and our politicians, but that is not where I am going. The area I want to tackle is our children. They have been infiltrated and brainwashed in plain sight. Every communist dictator has used the same tactics to gain power and change a nation by indoctrinating the children. Get them away from the parents’ influence and slowly brainwash them with lies, half truths and deception.

The devil has infiltrated the schools (I know there are still some good teachers), but I would say, however, every school. He uses the entertainment, the internet, as well as fashion, movies and TV. Straw men are erected to push the agenda, like save the polar bear, global warming, tolerance, equality and race. Let me stop there. This is not what I want to emphasize. This is how it’s gotten in, but what do we do?

In sports there is an expression, “the best defense is a good offense”. We need to infiltrate the children with the truth, God’s word, love, and a good example. We are in a battle for our children, grandchildren and their future. Our warfare is to put on the armor of God and be

Christian soldiers. Everyone should be involved. It doesn’t matter if you have kids or not, grandchildren or not, we have a job to do. Invest in the children. The enemies are! I can see I’m not going to have the space to flush this out like I want, but be creative as to how you can infiltrate the children with the things of God. Be an example with your children and those they come in contact with. Talk to them, give to them, help them and show you care, whether they are yours or not. Infiltrate your neighbor’s kids, schoolmates and the kids at church.

Lastly, I want to talk to the men - the fathers and the grandfathers. I will have to speak to the women, mothers and grandmothers at a later time, but what I have to say to the fathers is relevant to the mothers. I am, as many of you know, involved with the Guardian ad Litem program which intercedes on behalf of children who are in foster care or removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. A common thread in these children is lack of a father or abuse from a father, boyfriend, or stepfather. The children are innocent victims. We as men must help infiltrate where we can for these children, especially if we have happy, well balanced children. Children need role models and examples of how great life can be and the need for faith in the Lord. The best method for us to infiltrate our kids for the Lord is by our example. Be aware, and remember many small things add up to a big thing.

I see so many children who have been victims of the devil’s devices. I feel a need to do my part. Together we as a church can make a difference if we will put on the armor of God and be aware of how we can help influence the children we come in contact with.

Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints… - Ephesians 6:11-18

Taking Flight by Christina Hutchinson

I’ve been preparing myself throughout the entire month of June for a trip to Colorado my husband and I are planning. I’ve searched for the bags I’m bringing on the plane, new clothes, etc., none of which has distracted me from the fact that I really hate flying. All my friends know this as I show them my sweaty palms just imagining myself sitting inside the giant airliner. For me, it’s intimidating not having control and being miles away from the sweet ground where I’m comfortable. Of course, I know that I’m in better hands with the pilot being in control of the plane, but sometimes it’s hard to let go of that “out of control” feeling and just trust that everything is going to be ok. Well, for some of us I’d say that’s exactly how we treat God’s plans for our lives. Maybe God has you somewhere you really don’t feel comfortable, but you want to be content right now. Well, Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” We have to trust God’s plans for us, remember that He’s sovereign and that everything works according to His will! Simply put, God is in control and we don’t have to be intimidated by His plane, I mean plan.

Every Summer Has A Story by Chris Johnson

I saw that phrase last month and I began to ponder how true it was on so many levels. We are nearly halfway through the summer season, and just think back on the story thus far. Some of it has been routine and humdrum filled with ordinary moments and slow passing hours. Some has been filled with shock and even terror as we watched world events unfold. Maybe this even led us to worry about our own security and those whom we love. Maybe a few days have featured exhilarating fun and electrifying excitement as we enjoyed a fun-filled vacation or journeyed to a new place. The point is this - summer has already had much of its story written yet there still remains some hope-filled days ahead. So what part do we play in this story? What plans are we making? What opportunities have we scouted to enjoy intentional time with our family? And what about our family’s spiritual growth this summer? Lots of questions and a multitude of possibilities, but that’s where the fun lies. The important part is that we take the time to think through the options and plan accordingly. Memories are for a lifetime and there’s nothing better than a good story. As God’s people we are called to love Him and enjoy Him both now and forever more! Both of these duties can take place in the midst of making great memories and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. So what’s your summer story going to be? There will be a story to tell and you and I have a part to play!

Singing In The Rain by Donna Bramlett

It was a dark and stormy night… actually, a dark and stormy season of life. I was sinking fast, young in the Lord and inexperienced, and my fortitude was, well, lacking. One day I followed friends into a novelty store, full of trinkets and knick-knacks that I had no interest in, but then I saw it - small, wooden, not a work of art, but unique and one of a kind. There on the shelf in a tiny store in Key West sat a music box that changed my thinking. It was a little Noah’s Ark, and when I wound it up the happy animals spun and danced around on the deck to the tune of “Singing in the Rain.” So simple. So profound. At that moment, the Lord challenged me to praise him in my own storm, to trust that the rain would end, the flood recede, and there would be a rainbow in a brilliant fresh sky. And I did. And there was. It didn’t happen overnight, but through the next several years I practiced praising God in the storm, singing in the rain, and He was faithful through it and at the end of it.

That music box holds an honored place in my home, my own personal rainbow. Many storms have blown through my life since then, some huge, but the lesson has served me well. I’m still growing, still storm-tossed sometimes, but I can see the fruit of His labor in my life. And I offer this hope to you in the storms that are swirling around you right now. …they saw the deeds of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep. For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven. Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. (Psalm 107:24-32)
