As we enter into April, there are many reasons for all of us to be in constant prayer. We ask that you join us in praying for the Corona-Virus crisis that the Lord would allow the virus to decline and spare the lives of those who are most at risk from this disease. We also ask that you pray for the families across our nation through this difficult financial time, but that He would richly bless them with time spent together and the families would cherish such a blessing. We also ask you join us in praying for churches during this upcoming Easter. Even though church congregations will not be able to gather together this year, may the focus remain on Christ and what He did and continues to do for His people. May we be the light of Christ during this difficult time and share the gospel as it is so desperately needed! Many more things could be mentioned but space just won’t allow. God Bless.
THROUGH THE DECADES
by Bill Powell
We won’t soon forget the Sharathon of 2020. Frank Reynolds called it a black swan event, meaning you don’t encounter them very often. The theme “Through the Decades” was special. It invoked in us how the Lord has used so many people over the years in so many ways, to do His work. Enclosed is a picture of the collage that was created as we put Sharathon together. It didn’t take long for us to realize we needed another wall. This only scratched the surface.
Then came the coronavirus. We had spent so much time, and the theme was so good. Should we postpone? Can we be responsible and set a good example? Will anyone give? It became clear we would take a big loss as far as the giving is concerned but thought so much has been given by so many. The show must go on, and it no longer was about the fund raising. Let’s do what the Cornerstone is here for and proclaim Jesus Christ and celebrate how the Lord has used His people in the work of His ministry for decades.
After the first day, the same questions that we wrestled with earlier were considered. Should we continue? The phone volunteers let us know we were blessing the listeners, and it was all positive coming in. It was clear we should continue. What a wonderful sharathon. It was well received. We had to lock the door and minimize those who could be in the building. There was no shortage of the use of disinfectant wipes and Purell as we worked hard to practice social distancing. We were able to raise $80,000 which, under the circumstances, was amazing. This was far short of what we hoped for, but that is where faith comes in. We will trust the Lord and know we can count on God’s people going forward. We have several 11x17 photos of the Through the Decades photos for anyone wanting one. Just let us know, and we will give you one. There is so much to pray for. You all will be in ours; please include us in yours. Thank you so much for everyone who prayed or gave. The Lord reigns.
(Psa 146:10 NASB) The LORD will reign forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!
Thank you your loved and appreciated,
(Heb 13:8 KJV) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
A Big Cornerstone Thank You
We can’t thank all of our volunteers and food donors enough! You all made Cornerstone a success and memorable in so many ways. May the Lord richly bless each and every one of you.
